Jesse James Russell is one of those fortunate individuals undoubtedly created with a purpose in mind – natural musical ability. Labeling him a performer seems unfitting, as it’s simply Jesse being Jesse. Music is who he is and where he belongs.
Jesse is an accomplished bassist, guitarist and vocalist, as well as a producer, engineer, singer/songwriter. He has shared many musical moments with local and regional favorites, while collaborating with original and cover bands in OH, NC and SC, and opening for national acts (Marshall Tucker, Kansas, Toby Keith).
After 31 years on stage, Jesse recently chose to reunite with his passion of songwriting, engineering and producing. This return to the studio and his original work, is excellent timing, as his lifetime of musical adventures have pushed him to a new creative peak.
Jesse has produced, engineered and written varying genres, including three original albums, while also having produced and arranged songs for numerous artists. His original lyrical talent is unmatched, embracing vulnerability, reality, and of course, the spectrum of love – relatable by us all. Jesse’s original catalog includes 96 songs, while he has also developed a huge repertoire of cover music –ranging from progressive rock to country, to funk and R&B.
Currently, Jesse is instructing guitar, vocal and bass lessons at Artista, in Logan, OH, where his student base ranges from age six to sixty. He finds genuine enjoyment in teaching eager students who share the same love for music. He also offers customized songs and songwriting coaching. Jesse can still be found at private events, executing high energy, solo-acoustic artistic performances, or on stage collaborating with exceptional musicians. He is also available to coordinate booking musicians for events and festivals.
